New to Scotland!

An exciting course which runs over 2 days. Located within the North East Scotland based Cuschieri Skills Centre, which offers a wide portfolio of skills training courses at all levels to international medical personnel at all stages of their careers.  This course is suitable for all junior trainees, not just those who are currently involved in radiology, but also those who may have a keen interest and wish to find out more. This includes trainee doctors currently in foundation years 1 and 2 and those healthcare professionals who may be involved with Interventional Radiology to a lesser degree.  This course has been designed and developed to introduce participants to the basics of Interventional Radiology, provide an overview, and facilitate discussion and experience of handling the relevant equipment. The course also provides the opportunity take part in small group supported practical skills sessions and view a thiel cadaveric demonstration.

• Equipment Awareness
• Imaging Phantom Simulator
• Nephrostomy/Biopsy Simulator/Wet Tank Simulator
• Scenarios Non-vascular and Vascular
• Thiel Cadaveric Trial – Demonstration

Background

Based upon the successful course developed by Professor Anthony Watkinson and Dr Andrew Edwards and the South West of England Team. This course is adapted from their successful format for delivery in Scotland.

Aim

To introduce the fundamental concepts of Interventional Radiology. The intention is to improve knowledge and skills in Interventional Radiology and to foster enthusiasm for this dynamic and growing specialty.

Target Audience

This course is also highly relevant to junior trainees and healthcare professionals who are directly or indirectly involved with Interventional Radiology. It is also suitable to those who are not currently involved but have a keen interest and want to find out more.
